We make our first trip out to Washington on Saturday to watch the Bellarmine Prep Invitational. The meet is a two-mile race and an excellent early season test.
Varsity Girls
Based on the entries, the girl's race has a strong field and will be competitive race to watch. The 3A Washington Cross Country state champion, Sophia Rodriguez of Mercer Island is entered on Saturday. Last year's Bellarmine Invitational champion Cassidy Armstrong of Ballard is also entered. Bishop Blanchet brings a strong team led by Lily LaPorte, Zoe Louis and Chloe Cromwell. Other contenders include Lathan West of Bonney Lake, Maddie McKenna and Katelyn Galloway of Stadium, Clare Herring of Central Kitsap, Amy Cui of Lakeside, Sydney Collier of Skyline and Julia Couch of Auburn Riverside.
Varsity Boys
Vincent Recupero of Bishop Blanchet won the Bellarmine Prep Invitational last year and is entered to defend his title. Hudson Atrosh and Henry Herb of Seattle Prep will be in the top pack on Saturday. Other runners to watch include Dima Serafimovici of Curtis and Matthew Lawrence will also be factors in the varsity boy's race.
