Clovis Invitational – October 7

Clovis High School hosts their invitational on the state meet course on Saturday, October 7. The championship races will be the highlight of the meet.
Bill Buettner Girls Championship Race 8:55 AM
The team championship will come down to the top finishers in the Woodbridge Sweepstakes, JSerra (ranked #1 in division 4 in the state) and Buchanan (#1 in division 1 in the state. Other state ranked teams racing in the championship race include division 1 #2 Santiago (Corona), #5 Clovis North, division 2 #1 Ventura (which has Tiffany Sax racing for the first time for the Cougars and will challenge JSerra and Buchanan), #2 Los Altos, #3 Claremont, # 4 St. Francis (Mountain View), #6 Murrieta Valley, #7 Monte Vista (Danville), #8 Granite Bay and #9 Newbury Park. The #5 St. Francis (Sacramento) represents division 3. Besides JSerra in the division 4, #2 La Canada, #3 Oaks Christian and #5 La Jolla will battle. Division 5 #1 Immanuel will also compete with the larger schools.
In the individual race, defending D2 California State XC champion Sadie Engelhardt of Ventura leads the girls. Other challengers include Rylee Blade of Santiago (Corona), 2022 Clovis Invitational sweepstakes champion Hanne Thomsen of Montgomery, Chiara Dailey of La Jolla, Gioana Lopizzo of La Costa Canyon, Ashlynn Boothby of Scotts Valley, Payton Godsey of Oaks Christian, Mia Torrecillas of Highland, Elie Lomeli of Buchanan and Sofia Lieberman of Murrieta Valley. Nevada athlete Eleanor Raker of Galena is another athlete to watch
Rob Brenner Boys Championship Race 9:30 AM
There are many California state ranked schools in the boy’s championship race. Great Oak finished third at Woodbridge Invitational and is ranked #1 in division 1. Great Oak has plenty of company with division 1 ranked teams like #2 San Clemente, #3 Beckman, # 6 San Luis Obispo, #7 Crescenta Valley, #8 Mira Costa, #9 Davis and #10 Buchanan. Division 2 ranked teams racing in the championship race include #1 Ventura, #2 Newbury Park, #4 Granada, #5 Santa Barbara, #6 Jesuit. Division 3 teams to watch include #1 Dana Hills, #4 Oakdale, #7 West Ranch and #8 Matilda Torres. Division 4 powers #1 St. Francis (La Canada) and #2 JSerra will face each other in the championship race.
Individually, 2022 division 3 champion Evan Noonan of Dana Hills leads an excellent boys field. Other individuals to watch are Anthony Fast Horse Manny Perez of Cathedral, Joshua Bell of Templeton, Jason Parra of Millikan, Brett Ephraim of San Clemente, Westin Brown of Great Oak, Samuel Franco of St. Francis (La Canada), Carter Spradling of Clovis East, Gabriel Rodriguez of Great Oak and Teg Prandher of Clovis North.
