Clackamas Community College - Oregon City, Or
Aloha High School hosts the 44th annual Nike Portland XC Invitational on Saturday, September 30. This year's edition will be at the Clackamas Community College campus and parking will be $5. The last few years the meet was hosted at Blue Lake Park, but the park is closed due to construction. The meet has 3971 high school athletes signed up to compete on Saturday. One of the highlights of the meet is the competitive Jim Danner Championship.
The girl's Jim Danner Championship race will feature strong teams from all over the western US. Cherry Creek of Colorado may be the team to beat and Central Kitsap of Washington returns many of their talented runners from last year. Dana Hills, Saugus and Vista Murrieta of California will also bring strong teams on Saturday. Mountain View of Idaho and Valor Christian of Colorado are other strong contenders to bring home a team plaque. On the individual side, Emily Cohen and Kinley Wolfe will be a strong 1-2 punch for Cherry Creek. Nelida Dalgas of North Salem of Oregon is another individual contender. Josie Fale of Ida B Wells (OR), Ella McGillis of Central Catholic (OR), Charlotte Wilson of Union (WA), Lauren Tittel of Oregon Episcopal, Jaya Timmons of Valley Catholic (OR), Erika Kirk and Priscilla Villalobos of Vista Murrieta (CA) are other athletes that will shine on Saturday.
The team match up to watch in the boy's Jim Danner Championship is between Franklin of Oregon and Valor Christian of Colorado. Both have appeared in early season national team rankings. Ida B Wells of Oregon is off to a strong start this season too. On the individual side, the winner of the Jim Danner Award could come down to Daniel Hruska of Cherry Creek (CO), Asher Danielson of Ida B Wells, Kaeden Dendorfer of Valor Christian (CO), Gabriel Castillo of Etiwanda (CA), Joseph Vargas of Cleveland (CA), Ty Cirino of Central (OR), Noah Laughlin-Hall of Summit (OR), Matthew Resnik of South Albany (OR) and Zafer Courcelle of Franklin.
