Preview of Wildwood Mile and Ken Shannon Last Chance Inv (Saturday)

Wildwood Mile - February 23

Lincoln High School - Portland, OR



Wildwood Running is hosting the Wildwood Mile for Women and Girls on Friday, February 23, at Lincoln High School. Athletes can register through Athletic.net or at the site from 5:00 to 5:45 at a cost of $10. There are ten heats planned for Friday night with the first heat going at 6:00 and the final heat will go off at 7:40.


Ella McGillis (62) of Central Catholic

Emily Wisniewski of Crescent Valley headlines the field. Wisniewski finished third at December's NXN meet and won the 5A Oregon Cross Country Championship last November (for the third time). Other athletes to watch is Liliana Hudnut of Jesuit and Ella McGillis of Central Catholic, who both raced in the Oregon 6A 3000 final last May. Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln recently won the 800 at the University of Washington Indoor High School meet. She will be racing with her teammates Sophia Malinoski and Keira Saavedra.

Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational - February 24

Dempsey Indoor - Seattle, WA


Saturday morning we will head up to take pictures for the mile and 800 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational. The University of Washington will conclude their four-meet indoor series on Saturday. The meet is the last chance to get a time for NCAA Indoors.


Laura Pellicoro of Portland

In the women's mile Laura Pellicoro (ranked 19) of Portland, Maddy Elmore (ranked 23) of Oregon, Sophie O'Sullivan (ranked 27) of Washington and Mia Barnett (ranked 40) hope to improve their positions. In the men's mile competed on Saturday, Ronan McMahon-Staggs (ranked 14) of Washington leads the field.

In the women's 800, Juliette Whittaker (ranked 12) of Stanford leads a competitive heat that includes Marlena Preigh (ranked 22) of Washington, Kate Jendrezak (ranked 24) of UCLA and Marne Sullivan (ranked 39) of USC. Pros Nia Akins and McKenna Keegan will also make for a great race. Also, one of the top D1 indoor milers, Chloe Foerster of Washington is also in the final heat of the 800. Nathan Cumberbatch (ranked 23) of USC, Angus Harrington (ranked 25) of UCLA and Matthew Erickson (ranked 29) of Oregon will be looking to lower the 800 time on Saturday.
