Sound Running hosts the annual The Ten at JSerra High School in Orange County on Saturday. The meet has a mixture of high school and professional races. Here is a preview of the meet:
10,000 Meters

On the women's side, we will see if Alicia Monson's American 10,000 meter record will be in jeopardy as a number of talented Americans line up at The Ten. Weini Kalati, Elise Cranny, Taylor Roe, Jess McClain, Courtney Wayment, Ella Donaghu and Emily Venters are among the Americans in the field. Lauren Ryan of Australia hit the Olympic standard and Australian record last year at The Ten and hopes to lower the record. Lemlem Hailu of Ethiopia enters the race with fastest personal best in the field with a 29:29 time. Pamela Kosgei of New Mexico is a top collegiate runner and moves up to the 10,000 meters.

Graham Blanks raced the 5000 meters at the Olympic Games last summer and moves up to the 10,000. Drew Hunter finished fourth at the Olympic Trials in the 10,000 meters last summer and won his 10,000 heat at last year's The Ten. Habtom Samuel of New Mexico broke 27 minutes last year at The Ten and returns. Adriaan Wildschutt of South Africa ran 26:50 at the Paris games. Sam McGorty has made two US 10,000 meter teams and Ahmed Muhumed just ran a fast half marathon. Romain Legendre of Adam State is another possible collegiate that could break 27 minutes.
High School

The evening sessions of the boys and girls distance races will be worth watching. We need to add that Crater of Oregon's Josiah Tostenson and Tayvon Kitchen will be racing with the pros in the 1500.

The girls 1600 includes Jordan Lieberman of Murrieta Valley, Holly Barker of Trabuco Hills, Maya de Brouwer of La Canada and Megan Crum of Temescal Canyon. In the boy's 1600, the top runners include Dylan Jubak of Trabuco Hills, Landon Pretre of Menlo Schools, Grant Miller of La Serna, Alden Morales of JSerra, Bradley Array of JSerra, Taye Newman of JSerra, Micah Dickran of Newbury Park, Jack Paradise of Great Oak and Adam Divinity of Redondo Union.

The girls 3200 includes a strong field of Rylee Blade of Santiago (Corona), Abigail Errington of South Pasadena, Gweneth Williams of El Toro, Summer Wilson of Irvine, Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona) and Megan Crum of Temescal Canyon.
