Weekend Recap

Bellarmine Invitational - September 9



Bellarmine Prep hosted the 24th annual Bellarmine Invitational on their campus. The course covered 2-miles and opened the season for Washington athletes.


Cassidy Armstrong of Ballard ran a strong second mile to take the win at Bellarmine in a time of 11:24.4. Cassidy won the freshman race last year by over a minute and now has won two races in a row at Bellarmine. Bishop Blanchet girls won the team championship with 68 points with Valley Catholic of Oregon finishing second.

Vincent Recupero of Bishop Blanchet ran with the pack for the first mile and cruised to a victory in a time of 9:59.0. Vincent recently was named the #22 ranked boy in the nation by the DyeStat preseason poll. He also led his team, Bishop Blanchet, with a victory over Curtis.

Ed Sias Invitational - September 9



Campolindo High School hosted the Ed Sias Invitational at Hidden Park Valley Park in Martinez, Ca. Host Campolindo girls won the small school girls team championship with a score of 43 with Maria Carrillo finishing second. The girls from Campolindo qualified for NXN last fall and are ranked #18 in the DyeStat preseason poll. Shea Volkmer of Campolindo won the 2-mile race 11:51.1. Berkeley girls won the large school team championship over Archbishop Mitty. Evie Marheineke of Archbishop Mitty won the race in a time of 12:07.1.



The St. Ignatius College Prep boys won the small school team championship over Maria Carrillo and Trey Wright of St. Ignatius College Prep covered the 2-mile course in 10:16.0 for the win. College Park boys edged Dublin by one point to take the team large school championship. Aydon Stefanopoulos of Los Gatos won in 10:08.0. Aydon was recently ranked the #52 boy in DyeStat's preseason ranking.

Gear Up Northwest XC Preview - September 9



Sehome High School hosted the Gear Up Northwest XC Preview in Bellingham, WA. The meet was a season opener for Washington athletes, covered 2-miles and were raced by grades. The top girls time was run by senior Fiona Fraser of Port Townsend of East Jefferson in 10:56.1. Senior Jack Henzke of Seattle Prep ran 9:56.6 for the fastest boy time. Jack was recently ranked #80 in the DyeStat preseason individual ranking. Jack's team, Seattle Prep, was also ranked #24 in the DyeStat preseason team ranking.
