Meriwether CC Classic


Liberty High School is Hillsboro, OR hosted on Friday the annual Meriwether CC Classic on the Meriwether National Golf Course.



The girls varsity race featured Chloe Huyler of Lakeridge who was recently ranked 23rd on the DyeStat early season top 100. Huyler led from the gun to the finish covering the 5000-meter course in a time of 17:12.70. Chloe's sister Hannah finished second in a time of 17:58.00 and Jaya Simmons of Valley Catholic captured third in a time of 18:14.40. Lakeridge took home the girls team title with Tigard finishing second and Sherwood finishing third.

The boy's varsity race had a pack of four runners pushing each other throughout the race. Dylan Weniger of Sherwood broke away for the win in a time of 15:18.21, Sawyer Marquis of Forest Grove finished second in a time of 15:21.27, Yosuke Shibata of South Eugene finished third in a time of 15:25.00 and Jacob McManus of Columbia River took fourth in a time of 15:26.45. Weniger led his school, Sherwood, to the team victory with West Linn finishing second and Tigard finishing third.

Bellarmine Prep Invitational


Saturday morning Bellarmine Prep hosted the 15th annual invitational on a two-mile on campus course.


Sophia Rodriguez of Mercer Island and Cassidy Armstrong of Ballard raced shoulder to shoulder for most of the early part of the race. By the one mile mark, Rodriguez created some space and then won the race in a course record time of 10:42.2. Rodriguez was recently listed at number 16 on the DyeStat early season top 100 runners. Armstrong came in second at 10:50.3, Latham West of Bonney Lake finished third in a time of 11:18.3 and Lily LaPorte of Bishop Blanchet finished fourth in a time of 11:26.5. Thanks to LaPorte's finish, Bishop Blanchet won the team trophy with Mercer Island and Central Kitsap taking second and third.

Vincent Recupero of Bishop Blanchet landed at number 39 on the DyeStat early season top 100 ranking and showed why he was ranked in the two mile race Saturday. Recupero led by decent margin at the one mile mark and defended his Bellarmine Prep Invitational title in a two-mile time of 9:31.8. Mana Voss of Central Kitsap finished second at 9:48.5, Charlie Staddon-Smith of Mercer Island took third in a time of 9:57.3, Michael Vlach of Central Kitsap finished fourth in a time of 10:02.0. Henry Herb's fifth place finish in a time of 10:02.6 help lead Seattle Prep to a team title. Central Kitsap finished second and Curtis finished third.
